5 Tips to Keep Skin Hydrated in The Winter

During the summer months we are worried about our skin producing too many oils, and when winter comes around we are worried about our skin not producing enough oils! It is always the way isn't it...🙄

Winter can be especially harsh on our skin. Less sunshine, colder weather, stronger winds....all things that can dry our faces out and can make us feel down about ourselves.

Fear not! Today we have 5 tips and tricks that you can utilise to keep the perfect balance in your skin and stay hydrated when the weather isn't being so kind to us.

Avoid washing your face with hot water

If we are out in the cold air all day, it comes to no surprise that we would want to come home and have a steaming hot bath or shower, however, try to avoid this as much as possible. The contrast between the cold air and the hot water will have a negative affect on your skin, stripping all the oils out. The best solution is to always shower and wash your face with lukewarm water.

Choose your skincare products wisely

When it comes to skincare, make sure you are choosing the correct products for your skin type. Although it is winter, if you naturally have oily skin it is best not to use a heavy duty moisturiser and vice versa. Not only this, but try to stay away from products that are heavily perfumed as this can dry out your skin even more.

Drink lots of water!

No matter what time of year it is, drinking enough water is vital for clear and hydrated skin. In the colder months, it is easier for us to forget because we usually gravitate to hot drinks such as coffee and hot chocolate. Remember to keep your water intake in mind!

Avoid toxins

Our lifestyle choices have a huge affect on our skin. Whether toxins are consumed via food and drink or certain products being used on your skin, a build up can cause negative results on not just your skin, but on your entire body in general. Don't forget the SPF!
