Today we came across a news article on the Metro online about a teenage model from Northern Ireland who has become the first person with Down’s syndrome to win a crown in a global beauty pageant. This really made us extremely happy and got us thinking about how we amazing humans can really do anything we want too, if we put our minds to it.
It's really rare these days that you come across positive stories when watching or scrolling through the news so when we came across this story it really lifted our spirits and we wanted to know more.
19-year-old Kate Grant, went on to beat 40 other candidates from around the world to win the Teen Ultimate Beauty of The World competition. The Metro stated that Kate said “Kindness, compassion and inner sparkle, that’s the ultimate beauty,’ Kate added. ‘If the judges saw that in me, then I’m happy.’ How cute is she?!
All the contestants including Kate was interviewed by a panel of judges before modelling various themed outfits on the catwalk, which Katie excelled in and stole the judges hearts by being crowned the winnter.
The pageants website states “Here at the Ultimate Beauty of The World, we do not stereotype or discriminate, we do not brand you as a number nor do we overlook your individuality, WE look at you as an individual and are extremely interested to hear what you have to say.” This is something which a lot more companies and people in the world need to live by. We honour this message and are so humbled by the news this week for the amazing and beautiful Kate.
We would like to congratulate Kate her on her amazing success and best wishes in the future. And for anyone out there thinking they can’t do something as they look a certain way or feel different to others, you can do it. Believe in yourself and we are strong and powerful human beings, we can do anything if we want it hard enough and put our mind to it.
We believe in you!
